Curriculum

Our curriculum is based on the Learning Without Tears program, an effective & engaging literacy program that aligns with the Eureka Union School District. We lead students to success through a pathway to early literacy that embraces the whole child. Students strengthen essential fine and gross motor skills through hands-on materials, learn through purposeful play, and explore language through connected text.

The Learning Without Tears curriculum is designed to support young learners in developing foundational skills in handwriting, literacy, and math through a multi-sensory approach. In a preschool setting, it benefits students by making learning both engaging and accessible, using hands-on activities, songs, and interactive materials that cater to various learning styles. This curriculum emphasizes fine motor development and early literacy skills, which are crucial for young children’s overall academic growth. By integrating play and structured lessons, Learning Without Tears helps preschoolers build confidence and proficiency in essential skills, setting them up for success as they transition to more formal education.

Literacy/Language

Three Acres Preschool uses the Learning Without Tears curriculum for teaching literacy/language. This curriculum focuses on building a strong foundation in letter formation, letter sounds, proper pencil grip, and letter recognition. This method teaches letter formation through multi-sensory activities, such as tracing letters in sand or using playdough. By incorporating fun and engaging activities, Learning Without Tears makes learning to write a positive and enjoyable experience for young children.

Math

Our program focuses on building a strong foundation of basic mathematical concepts. Children will be introduced to numbers, shapes, patterns. Through hands-on activities like counting objects, sorting shapes, and playing math games, children will develop a natural curiosity for numbers and begin to understand their relationships.

Science

Science is also an important part of our program. We will be exploring the world around us. Children will be encouraged to observe, question, and experiment with natural materials. They will learn about plants, animals, weather, and the human body through hands-on activities like planting seeds, conducting simple experiments, and exploring the outdoors. These experiences foster a sense of wonder and curiosity, sparking a lifelong interest in science.

Art

At Three Acres Preschool we like to get messy! Art is a powerful tool for self-expression and creativity in our classroom. Children will explore various art mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpting, and collage. Through these activities, they will develop fine motor skills, imagination, and problem-solving abilities. Art also helps children express their emotions and ideas in a meaningful way.

Movement

We believe movement is an essential part of a child’s development. Physical activity helps children develop gross and fine motor skills, coordination, and balance. It also promotes physical health and well-being. We will engage in a variety of movement activities, including dancing, playing games, and participating in outdoor activities. These experiences help children develop a positive attitude towards physical activity and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle.
