Snack Buddy Program
We are excited to introduce our Snack Buddy program! This program promotes healthy eating habits and builds a sense of community within our
classroom. We appreciate your support in making our Snack Buddy program a success!
How it works:
- Each week, one child will be assigned as the Snack Buddy.
- The Snack Buddy will bring in two nutritious snacks from different food groups to share with the class.
- Examples of snack combinations include: cheese sticks and apples, crackers and bananas, yogurt and carrots, etc.
- To ensure equal participation, each child will have a turn as Snack Buddy approximately once every 12-15 weeks, depending on class size.
- We kindly ask that you do not send in snacks with nuts or other common allergens to accommodate children with food sensitivities.
- If your child has food allergies we ask you to provide non perishable snacks for them to enjoy at school during snack time.

Sign In / Sign Out Procedures and Drop Off
Children will be dropped off and picked up in our LOOP driveway. Parents will remain in their vehicle, the teacher will come out to the car and get the child out of the car seat. The parent will sign the child in and the child will be escorted to the classroom. The reverse will happen at pick up time. For safety reasons it is important for drivers to remain in their vehicles at all times. We will use Brightwheel as our sign in and out system. You will use this app to electronically sign your child in and out each day.
Physicians Report
In order to have a physician’s report filled out by a doctor you can hand carry, or download the form from Brightwheel and email directly to your child’s doctor’s office. You may return the form in person or upload directly to us on Brightwheel.
Immunization Requirements
Children must be immunized against Polio (3) Measles , Mumps, Rubella (1) Diphtheria-Pertussis-Tetanus (DPT-4) HIB, Hepatitis B, and Varicella (or give date of disease) The last TB test must have been within the past two years. Up to date immunization records must be presented at time of enrollment. Students may not begin attendance without a complete updated copy of their shot records. Please include in the registration packet along with the completed Physicians Report.
Illnesses
Your child will be checked daily upon arrival for general well-being. Please do not send your child to school with any of the following symptoms: yellow/green mucus, fever, cough, vomiting (within the past 24 hours), pink eye, rash, diarrhea. Your child needs to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. In the case your child is displaying symptoms of illness , a parent or emergency contact will be notified to pick the child up in a timely manner and be assessed before returning to school.
Medications
The State of California Licensing Regulations does not allow staff to administer medication to your child while at school, this includes prescription medications, tylenol, cough syrup, topical ointments, and allergy medications.
Allergies
Please let staff know of any allergies related to food or the environment. Please fill out the allergy section in the enrollment packet as well. If the students’ allergies require medication please inquire with the teacher or director to discuss a plan of action in the event of an allergic reaction.
Peanut/TreeNut Free School
Three Acres Preschool is a peanut tree nut free school. We do not allow peanut products or food that contain peanuts. Please remember this when bringing in treats for birthdays and holidays.
Absences
Please notify Three Acres Preschool of any absences that may occur. If a student is absent from school due to illness, injury or vacation the tuition payment will still be required for the time of absence.
School Calendar/Holidays
A school calendar and schedule of holidays is included in the Parent Handbook. Scheduled school holidays and closures do not affect the scheduled tuition payment. As each month may have a variation in the number of days that students attend, the monthly tuition rate will stay fixed as it is a “school year” tuition divided into 10 equal payments. The “school year” and holiday dates will be guided by the Eureka Union School District Calendar, although some dates may vary.
Birthday Treats
Treats for birthdays and holidays are fun and welcome but need to be approved ahead of time. Please inquire if you would like to provide a treat for the class for a birthday or holiday. Given possible food restrictions or allergies any food brought into class will need to be approved by the teacher.
Field Trips
Field trips are parent participation, meaning a parent guardian or other authorized adult must drive and accompany your child. Any fees for the field trip are to be paid by the family and checks are payable to Three Acres Preschool. We typically will have one fall field trip and one spring field trip. We will give families plenty of notice prior to the field trip date. Don’t forget to wear you school t-shirt.
Classroom Parties
Throughout the school year Three Acres Preschool will have several holiday classroom parties. We believe classroom parties provide valuable social opportunities for our students and families. We will have party parents sign up to come help at the various parties throughout the school year. All parties are during school hours.
Classroom Parties are as follows:
- Halloween Costume Party
- Thanksgiving Feast
- Christmas Gift Exchange Party
- Valentines Party
- St Patrick’s Day Party
- Easter Party
School Backpacks & Spirit T-Shirts
Once your child is enrolled you will receive a school spirit t-shirt. School t-shirts can be worn anytime to create a sense of community and belonging. We will also wear our school spirit shirts to field trips throughout the school year. Your child will bring a small backpack of their choice to and from school everyday. It is important that your child brings their backpack everyday so that appropriate communications, child’s work, and personal belongings may be easily transported daily. The back pack will also have a ziplock bag of extra clothes in it. We will use these clothes in the case of an accident.
Dress Code
Please dress children in play clothes. It is important for the students to feel free and to play and get dirty. We do a lot of messy activities which may stain good clothing. We recommend comfortable washable fabrics. Closed toe shoes are best for playground play.
Spare Clothes & Personal Items
One of our goals is to foster the independence that young children so fiercely desire, and which makes liberty possible. Please help by dressing your child in clothing appropriate for school. Clothing should be comfortable, easy for the child to put on or remove, with no complicated fasteners. It should be rugged and washable. Label all items with your child’s name. Keep in mind that the children engage in active outdoor play, at times with sand or water, and will use paint, clay, etc. It inhibits the child and his/her ability to learn if he/she is anxious about keeping clothes clean. Expensive dresses, jumpsuits, jewelry, watches, sunglasses, shoes that slip off during running, etc. are not appropriate for school. Flip flops and all sandals without back straps should not be worn to school. Cowboy boots and high-top tennis shoes are especially difficult for most children to put on and are discouraged. In contrast, Velcro fasteners are practical and easy for children. Girls wearing skirts or dresses should wear shorts or undershorts. On the first day of school please put a spare set of clothes in a ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name. This bag will be kept in your child’s back pack throughout the school year in case any accidents occur.
Parent Volunteers & Visitor Policy
Parent volunteers are welcome and we appreciate the help. In the interest of protecting the children we require that all parent volunteers that work in the classroom are fingerprinted and have a background check.
Behavior Policy
Three Acres Preschool is intended to be a safe, nurturing learning environment for all students enrolled in our school. If a child is displaying behavior that is detrimental to others or himself a parent or guardian will be asked to promptly pick up the child. If the behavior continues and poses a threat to other students the child will be dismissed from the school. If it is deemed necessary to dismiss a student any unused portion of the tuition paid will be fully refunded.
Transportation
Three Acres Preschool does not transport children.
After School Program Transportation
After school, children will need to purchase a bus pass from the Eureka Union School District Transportation Dept (916-774-1231). After school, children will be transported to Three Acres Preschool by the Eureka Union School District bus. The bus stop is right in front of the school at the stop sign at Eureka Rd and Purdy Ln. Three Acres staff will meet children at the bus stop and walk them to the after school program.
Emergency Disaster Plan
In case of an emergency or natural disaster children will be relocated to Granite Bay Community Park 6010 Douglas Blvd Granite Bay, Ca. 95746. You will be contacted by phone or brightwheel where and when to pick your child up. If we are not able to contact you due to the nature of the emergency, come to the relocation site (Granite Bay Community Park) to pick up your child.
Withdrawal Policy
If you choose to withdraw your child, please submit 2 weeks notice in writing to the director of Three Acres Preschool. A refund of any unused tuition will be accessed at the time that notice is given. Material Fee will not be refunded.
Rights of the Licensing Agency
The Department of Social Services licensing department has the authority to inspect as specified in the Health And Safety Code Section 1596.852 and 1596.8535. They have the right to interview children attending Three Acres Preschool program or our staff without prior consent. This authority includes the right to inspect, audit, and copy children’s records during normal business hours.

- Lack of parent cooperation
- On going late pick up
